A Girls Painting Trip in the NC Mountains
Last week, Kelsey Howard and I hopped in a car and drove to the NC mountains to meet up with Carla Gignilliat, Carolyn Misterek, and Molly Alexander (friends from our artist residency at Chateau Orquevaux) for a girls painting trip!
We stayed just outside of Highlands, NC, and attended a three-day expressive painting workshop at The Bascom [A Center for the Visual Arts], led by Dmitri Wright. Where we got to catch up with Dep Rosenbury and Kathy Broyles, two other artists from the residency, so it was practically a reunion!
We painted outdoors and in the studio. Naturally, I was drawn to the landscape — creating two mountain scenes inspired by our drive, as well as a plein air painting by the creek, and flowers from a sweet little garden just outside of the studio!
We did some exploring outside of the workshop and painted from the porch at our house, too!
