Painting the Amalfi Coast
This summer season has progressed at a very natural pace in the studio — from the framed paper pieces, to the beach club preorders, to this new collection of larger Amalfi Coast scenes! Working in one theme, but broken up in these three distinct parts has allowed me to dive deep, immerse myself in the subject and reminisce on our trip!
The bright umbrellas have been one of my favorite summer muses — from large, striped umbrellas stealing the show, to tiny ones dotting the shoreline.
The 20x16” painting pictured above is titled Capri Blue, inspired by La Fontelina Beach Club. It took the longest to complete with so many details and shadows!
Positano Beach Day is another 20x16” painting. The idea for this one swam around in my head for months and was one of the reasons I felt so driven to create Italian Summer Part II. Sometimes an idea is so strong you have to follow it and see where it takes you!

On our first day in Capri we took a boat tour around the island. It was my favorite part of the entire trip. I loved seeing all of the details of the rocky coastline.
Mediterranean Sea is a 12x24” painting inspired by that relaxing afternoon at sea. You can see the rock formation Faraglioni in the background, as well as tiny sailboats dotting the wavy sea!
Sunbathing in Amalfi is another 12x24” painting. The sun lit up the coastline so beautifully that morning with all of the umbrellas and lounge chairs set up in rows along the beach, ready for the day’s sunbathers! This size painting is perfect fora stacked trio, a smaller wall or a shelf.

I love that when you’re visiting the Amalfi Coast, you’re greeted by colorful buildings, lots of boats and delicious food!
Marina Grande is an 11x14” painting that captures the cheerful spirit of this bright and bustling marina in Capri!
I also love the teal, sparkling waters along the Amalfi Coast. I couldn’t resist trying to capture the movement and tranquility in this 11x14” painting titled Teal Waters of Capri.
We ended our Italian vacation in Positano, and we had a great view of the coast from Hotel Poseidon. Italian Summer was the first painting I created for this collection. This 11x14” window into Positano perfectly captures the magic of this special place!
